In Conversation With Dr Ahmad Ma’ali, July 2025
On the 16th July 2025 St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group, in collaboration with the Guild of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital, iYouth, and the Guild of Young Freemen, hosted ‘In conversation with Dr Ahmad Ma’ali’ at the Apothecaries' Hall, London.
The CEO of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital Group (SJEHG), Dr Ahmad Ma’ali, spoke to award-winning BBC journalist, writer and broadcaster, Samira Ahmed about the work of the Eye Hospital and his journey to CEO.
Chair of the Guild of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital, Sarah-Jane Holden, gave a brief introduction to the support the Guild has provided for the Eye Hospital for nearly 100 years, and presented Dr Ma'ali with a cheque of funds raised by the Nablus Fundraising Dinner.

Palestinian Fundraising Dinner for New Nablus Day Hospital
On the 14th of June 2025, the Guild of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital hosted a remarkable Palestinian fundraising dinner at Our Lady of Victories Church in Kensington. The event raised over £16,000 for the new Hospital in Nablus; a project central to extending our reach to communities most in need.
Guests were treated to a buffet of Palestinian delicacies, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of the region. The evening’s highlight came with a vibrant performance of Dabke dancers, whose energy and rhythm brought joy and spirit to the room.
